Ancestor:Descendants:

The Frosty Sauceback replaced its ancestor, the Glacial Sauceback in Maineiac. It is half its ancestor's size and has now specialized as a scavenger since its ancestor food sources have gone extinct. Like their ancestor the larva are aquatic. They will migrate to the volcanic regions with plentiful liquid water. The larva have adapted to surviving in hot water and higher pH that would kill most species. Once they leave their hot spring pools they will spread across the island.

Their shaggy feather help them keep warm in the higher elevations. Their acute sense of smell helps them track down carrion from far away. It also helps them find a mate over long distances. After mating the female will migrate to the volcanic region to lay their larva in the hot springs. Males will use their tusk to fight each other over mates. These tusks also are used to clear snow and ice if carrion has been covered up.

Adults can live up to 14 years but usually only live 3 to 4 years. The larva grow quickly in the pools of water and are able to leave the pools within only a couple months. However they do not reach full size until about 1 year.
