Ancestor:Descendants:

The gliding swarmer split from its ancestor and developed "wings". Two in order to glide, and an additional pair in order to propel it out of the water and swim normally. The two front wings consists of an arm and a thin membrane which gives it its gliding ability. The two back-wings were once four rear tentacles but now form two wings. A thin membrane grew the two on the right side and the two on the left side together forming a leaf shape around them. The rear wings are used to swim forward and to shoot the gliding swarmer out of the water. Although the gliding swarmer can only glide they can reach impressive heights, this is because of the wind which can carry it great distances. They feed on the microorganisms that live in the air, propelling themselves out from the water, gliding over over its surface, this is the only time it leaves the water however. They still reproduce in water and still need water to keep it's skin moist, so they only feed out of the water when the weather conditions allow it. Due to the fact that only a few of the microorganisms get close enough to the surface to be preyed upon, the gliding swarmer still has photosynthesis as a vital part on it's diet.
