The glowing trapinout replaced its ancestor, the trapinout. Since it lived on the ocean floor where it was pitch black its worm-like lures could not be seen, so it evolved bioluminescence. Now its prey could see the lures. This attracted species like the dark swarms which already glow but are looking for a mate. However those that have no eyes were not lured at all like the echofin. However there are some species it attracts anyways which either are so big it eats them or they are infected with malakommalis which kills them. They have also lost much of their pigment now that they are not exposed to sunlight anymore.
If attacked it will dig down deeper into the sea bed to hide. Like its ancestor, it digs a hole in the sand, but remains there for all its life. In the beginning of its life, it remains completely buried, feeding only on water microorganisms. During this phase, its shell becomes thicker and covers all its body and, after a certain moment, the shell is untied from the body, which remains in its interior. From this moment, the glowing trapinout is capable of capturing larger prey through its exclusive tactics of hunting.
