Ancestor:Descendants:

The Hive Shoveltail replaced its ancestor in the Flisch Savanna. It has evolved hive behavior and now has three sexes, males, females and a matriarch.

The males retained their role as food providers and changed very little. Their eyes became even smaller and they use their elated nostrils more to be able to find roots. The matriarch is actually a female shoveltail with a sex dimorphism which allows her to secrete a pheromone from her forehead that denies other females from becoming sexually mature, thus securing her genes as the only birth giver. The females, deprived of their ability to be pregnant, retain their ancient roles as caretakers for the eggs and young. Unlike the matriarch, the females look exactly like juvenile males.

The matriarch can not move herself affectively and therefore is dependant on the females' help.
