Ancestor:Descendants:

The jagged twinkoral split from its ancestor, the pioneer twinkoral. As the sole flora species in the Kenotai waterways (except the linked bubblgea) for several million years, the pioneer twinkoral rapidly varied into many different species to fill some of the available niches. The intrusion of the axetail gilltail also prompted a requirement for defense in some pioneer twinkoral: this resulted in the jagged twinkoral. Doubling in size, it retained its ancestors basic shape but also gained a covering of jagged spikes formed of hardened calcium absorbed from the soil, a method similar to that of their relative the thorny twinkiiro.
