Splitting from its ancestor, the jumbo darter now specializes in feeding on the various skimmer species, as well as other highly mobile fauna. Evolving two pairs of hardened fin-like projections on either side of its body, they came about in an effort to decrease water resistance, though it is slightly less maneuverable, though this is little problem as its prey is slower than it.It currently faces no competition for its food source, thus it has flourished in this primitive sea ecosystem. Other than this, it has changed little from its ancestor.
