Ancestor:Descendants:

The mae cavemari split from its ancestor, the cavamari, and moved to Mae Sandstone Caves. It still requires moisture to survive, so it stays near or above the caves' water pools. It has shrunk to half its ancestor's size and now feeds mainly on the dominomicro and the maedetrovorus. It can't feed on the maehematitus because that organism is living mostly on the walls of the caves and inside them, way outside the grasp of the filter feeding mae cavemari. Its mouth has grown and its suction cupped tentacles secrete a fluid to help dissolve the sandstone, thus allowing the mae cavemari to stick itself to the wet surface.

During reproduction, the mae cavemari will move to the water pools and there it will lay its eggs. Once the eggs hatch, the infant mae cavemari will rise above the water to the edges of the pools (where it's still moist) and start filter feeding. Not many of the eggs survive to hatch, so the mae cavemari spawns hundreds of them at a time.
