Ancestor:Descendants:

The maerundi split from its ancestor, the scavengundi. It has made its way to Mae Sandstone Caves. There it became less social. It no longer has a caste system and only has males and females of the same size. They will still travel in a group, but only of around 10 to 20. It no longer dig and just go around looking for dung to feed on. They do have an alpha female that desides where they will eat but that's about all the leadership they have.

Males will fight over females with their bladed trunks. They also use this blade to defend against predators. Their toes have separated even more to where there are 2 sub-legs on each leg. The front sub-leg has has 3 toes while the back sub-leg has only 2. Females give birth to 2 babies and will keep them in their cheek pouches until they are old enough to join the herd. They communicate with each other via ultrasonic squeaks that most other fauna cannot hear. They have great sight and hearing so they can move around in the dim light of the caves.
