The mantis ketter split off from the lanced ketter. Its fingers, except the middle one, have degenerated into little more than useless clawed flaps of skin, as the skeletal structure (whatever plents may have) of the side fingers has disappeared. The middle finger has become huge, and the claw a deadly weapon and hunting tool. It can change color (only shades of purple) to better camouflage itself against both predators and prey. It hunts by hiding beneath a purple plant, and when a flying dart or other small creature lands on it, it dashes out and impales it on a claw. If it does not die, it will repeatedly stab it with its vestigial lance until it does. The leaves have split into two again, and are now used as a sort of solar panel when basking, as this creature is cold-blooded.
