Ancestor:Descendants:

The marocta has split to become the top predator of the Rhodix Vents due to mere size. At 13 cm long no other mobile creature in the vents can defend itself against the marocta and it’s the mighty spikes of the marocta. It has also evolved two larger spike-limbs in order to rip ventrappers off and impale its prey keeping it near its mouth for further digestion. Another evolution is the 8 tiny eyes inside its large mouth used for scouting the vents looking for glowing creatures like the dark swarmers and ventrappers and something the xxeljets that follow them to feed on. Because its eyes are often in contact with digesting materials and digested food they fall off and replace about once each month.

It has completely lost its filter feeding consuming diet.
