The megapolidi has replaced the diggerundi in the Huggs-Yokto Savanna. Queens who were fast-reproducing freaks were able to establish larger colonies, and so they began to build up, and up. Soon, they began to build large mounds that could measure up to five meters tall. Many of the mounds can even interconnect with each other, each mound having their own queen.
There are five castes: workers, farmers, soldiers, males and the queen. The workers can do a multitude of tasks, such as digging, raising young, retrieving food, etc. The farmers tend to their supershroom crops by bringing them their feces and water from the Yokto Water Table. The soldiers have sharp, piercing teeth. With more soldiers being born, they are always outside, guarding the mound from potential predators. The males mate with the queen, and they reside solely in the queens' chamber.
Like their ancestral forms, only the queen megapolidi is able to reproduce, and her urine-sweat has a hormone which sterilizes the workers. When the queen dies, another female takes her place when her hormones kick back in. The queen gives birth weekly, and the litter can consist of nearly seventy babies. The workers then retrieve the babies, and then gently place them in the cradle chambers.
The megapolidi house themselves in large mounds that can even extend underground, containing many specialized chambers. Some of them are resting places for the workers, some are cradle chambers, and one is for the queen and the males only. There are even huge crop chambers where supershrooms are farmed and tended by the farmer caste. The farmers can travel deep down into the Yokto Water Table to get water. The water is stored in extra-puffy cheeks.
When finding food outside, the worker 'march' in trails similar to that of Earth ants. They can collect rotting fruit, rotting flesh from larger animals, and even dead or dying small animals.
The megapolidi have not changed very much from their ancestors physically, but the queen has an expanded reproductive tract, and can grow up to eight centimeters. Like their ancestral forms, their squeaks are ultrasonic, and hence inaudible to larger predators. Their 'tooth trunks' act as a shovel to dig with. Soldiers have the longest trunk, while the queen has the smallest.
Because of their huge success, they have put the scavengundi under pressure in the Huggs-Yokto Savanna.
