Replacing it's ancestor, the midwater saltswarmer now inhabits the lake from top to bottom, but mostly thrives in the middle portions. It has grown larger to filter more particles, has gained larger fins that it "flaps" to swim, and, like its relative the ninth lake skimmer, has gained a basic hearing ability in the form of sense nodes on its side that detect vibration. It's tentacles have continued to decrease in length as they now drag more than help, and it has lost some of its photosynthetic ability in favor of better camouflage in the water.
