The mud nizzard replaced its ancestor, the nizzard. It has now evolved to live fully in the water. They spend most of their night hunting in the water and sleeping in muddy burrows on the river banks during the day. They have now evolved webbed feet to help them swim better as well as larger lungs. Even their eyes are more adapted for seeing under the muddy water. Like their ancestor the the nizzards top incisors are more like canine-like teeth to help it bite prey. It is quite solitary, except for mating. Babies are born as miniature versions of their parents and must survive on their own without parental protection.
