Ancestor:Descendants:

The oogneerg split from its ancestor and lost its flagella. Like its ancestor, it guides by fototaxis, but will move toward the light source through amoeboid movements. The light abundance in the equatorial region improved its reproduction rate, also promoting a high yield of photosynthesis products; most of these products leave the cell and remain outside, giving it a viscous aspect. This outer layer also prevents it from desiccation when directly exposed to air during some time, like in the chaparral ground.
