Ancestor:Descendants:

The parasite symalt replaced its ancestor symalt. With so many other consumers around it, it had to specify. It has evolved to feed off of terradendron as a parasite. It grows on the trunk part of the terradendron and absorbs its cytoplasm and salt. While it helps remove the salt from terradendron which is beneficial its feeding off of it is not. Thus when first infected it helps its host thrive, but then once enough have infected it, it will eventuality kill off its host. It has developed a 2nd flagellum too so it can bring in fresh water for cellular respiration.
