The terradendron split from its ancestor and emigrated to life on land. They grew taller to gain more sunlight and evolved a cap instead of a "cone" on its top. The terradendron had to find some way of coping with the now much less moist environment and thus they started to drink the beach water; this however would kill them due to the salinity level, so their new, oddly shaped cap now works as a filter for them because its vacuole is located there. The salt is filtered and excreted through the vacuole and it can be seen dripping from inside the cap, whilst the rest of the water is used to moist the flora's body.
