Petalphourus is a hybrid of trisphourus and petalgae. This occurred when a trisphourus tried to consume a petalgae and failed thus combining both species DNA. However this mistake gave it an advantage over both ancestors and replaced both of them. With the boost of energy from the petalgae cells it could now compete with other mobile flora like the plents.

It also had the trisphourus 3 nuclei which meant its genes were more diverse and it could keep much of both ancestors traits. The major advantage it had over other trisphourus is it could now regulate its temperate in the cold water by using the white and black cells of the petalgae. Like the petalage it had 5 available phases. Completely black, 1 white cell and 3 black cells, 2 white cells and 2 black cells, 1 black cell and 3 white cells, and all cells white. Although they rarely are fully white since they are adapted to polar waters.
