The phamtophotus split from its ancestor. Being much similar to the luminuseven and rich in chloroplasts, it will always try to find the best place to get sunlight. However, in virtue to its amorphous shape, it will crawl aided by the long flagella in the river bed or soaked soil when searching for the light source, absorbing minor quantities of lime found dissolved in the water. The species can combine this substance with carbon dioxide, forming calcite, which precipitates in the river bed and water puddles. The phamtophotos was able to spread through the boreal forest, being also found in the caves, even where a dim light is found.
