The phantom capiri split from its ancestor and shrank to half its size. They regained the ability to change their body color, and the ends of their back spines grew long whips that flash brightly and spin to confuse and frighten predators. The beak lengthened and curled to allow it to hook on to things that would normally be out of reach, also to carry things like dead bodies for later, and it developed cheek armor to better defend the head. The phantom capiris legs and toes became longer to give it a wider stride. The tail has developed to mimic the head to add extra confusion to its light display when attacked.
They travel in groups, often numbering around 100 or so individuals. It is a very daring creature, the younger ones will eagerly tease predators if their mother or father is nearby for a quick retreat. Adults normally pair for life, although it is not rare to find the occasional lovers trio. The lolly poppy is seen as a treat, they get drunk off the gas it emits and it is sought after as a gift to give to ones mate, whether it's breeding season or not.
