The phosphoid split from its ancestor, the teproutine. It has specialized in consuming phosphorus. Currently no microbe before this was consuming it, however it is not always easy to find. So it has developed phosphorus sensors on top of its "head". Once found it will absorb it though the same sensory orbs. It still reproduces via mitosis.
