While the general anatomy of the Piloswrigum hasn't diverged all too much from its ancestor, there are several key changes. Firstly, its body is covered with small hairs which the Piloswrigum uses to sense changes in the air. Through this sense, it is able to detect the movement of nearby predators and react promptly. Due to the extinction of its staple food source the maineiac orbion, the Piloswrigum instead consumes the corpses of dead fauna such as the coalskin skywatcher.
A consequence of this dietary change is also a change in the way the Piloswrigum protects its spores: After they have been fertilized, the Piloswrigum places its eggs inside the corpses of dead fauna. Protected and warm, the Piloswrigum grubs proceed to eat their way out of the body once hatched, providing a stable food source of several weeks before they are finally old enough to leave and enter the wild.
