Due to a lack of macro-organisms to feed on, the placofuzz lost its ancestor's detrivorism. Instead, they use their slightly softer and longer cilia to be able to capture more sulphur compounds and direct them to the cell membrane. They usually live in dense colonies, clumping together, 'holding' each other by their cilia. Often new colonies are formed due to the cilia moving and letting go of a clump. This clump will continue to reproduce and form a new colony. While these colonies are a side-effect of the placofuzz' new type of cilia, they are not actually multicellular and can be found alone. It has replaced its ancestor in the Rhodix Vents.
