Diverging from its ancestor the pedesorm, the poison pedosorm migrated to the grasslands of Maineiac island where there were very few predators that could endanger it. As a result, they have become numerous, littering the ground with hundreds of bright, conspicuous shells. While the vivid shell of the Poison Pedesorm may seem like an evolutionary disadvantage at first due to how easy it makes them to spot, it does aid in warding off predators by signalling their toxicity. This toxicity is a result of their diet as detrivores, as instead of being flushed out in their waste like they used to, the poisonous and toxic portions of their food is instead concentrated and excreted in glands, so as to make the Poison Pedesorm a deadly meal for any predator who tries to consume it. Finally, their eyes have atrophied so as to become just barely able to distinguish between light and dark, while their sense of taste and smell has been honed so as to allow the Poison Pedesorm a way to easily sense predators and food.
