Replacing its ancestor in [[Darwin Temperate Rainforest]] and [[Sparks Boreal]], the poisumbrella has expanded and flattened its ‘globe’ to capture more sunlight. It remains toxic to compensate for its growth (which is often slow due to light being obscured by larger flora), and has added to its diet by producing specialized enzymes (adapted from the flesh-eating enzymes in its poison) that break down organic matter in the soil for extra nutrients. In addition, to better spread its genes the poisumbrella has gained the ability to exchange genetic information through the roots when they meet up with roots of other individuals, producing a bud at that location.

Replacing its ancestor in Darwin Temperate Rainforest and Sparks Boreal, the poisumbrella has expanded and flattened its ‘globe' to capture more sunlight.

Living Relatives (click to show/hide)

These are randomly selected, and organized from lowest to highest shared taxon. (This may correspond to similarity more than actual relation)
  • Toxiglobes (family Toxiglobaceae)
  • Chaococoon (order Collospherales)
  • Table Cushion (class Euspherophyta)
