The protohydroia impluviatus split from its ancestor and has evolved a square shape. It has evolved the shape to better use space, since a square can better fit together than an octagon. With this, the protohydroia impluviatus is able to form large mats at the soil, or filling the holes which occur when octagons come together. Otherwise it is similar to its ancestor.
