The puff reed replaced its ancestor, the jeluki snowpuff. With the ice age long gone and tropical temperatures returning to Jeluki River the jeluki snowpuff had to adapt. Its adaptions were made for cold polar climates not warm tropical ones. Thus drastic new changes occurred such as loosing its puffy hairs and anti-freeze in exchange for large leaves and bendable stems able to withstand seasonal floods. It could now grow to twice its ancestors size and grow large puffs at the top of their stems to travel farther in the wind. Due to few herbivores it thrives along the rich river banks of Jeluki.
