Ancestor:Descendants:

The pukgam split from it's ancestor and now lives on the see floor. A thin layer of mucus on the dorsal side traps falling derbies such as marine snow as well as small food suspended in the water. The trapped food is then consumed by specialized feeder cells. Occasionally for large food they will fold themselves around the food item to form a temporary digestive cavity. The adults have limited mobility propelled by heavily ciliated cells on the under side. The larva are cylindrical and have ciliated and feeding cells distributed across the entire surface.

Reproduction involves two "sexes" which are determined by the ploidy number of an individual. Triploid individuals belong to the + sex and produce three kinds of haploid gametes. Two of the gametes types produced by a positive combine with each other to form a diploid individual. Haploid individuals belong to the - sex and produce a single type of diploid gamete. this haploid gamete unites with the thirded type of gamete from the + individual producing a new triploid

or + individual.
