Ancestor:Descendants:

The quone split from its ancestor the quilbil. It has developed many hard leaves that are difficult for herbivores to digest. This allows it to be passed over by many herbivores. It no longer bears fruit but produces hard nuts. They grow in the same spot that its ancestor grew fruit (at the top of the trunk). Due to this new reproduction method they have also become hermaphroditic so they can reproduce with themselves if no others are around. Their trunks too have gotten thicker bark to help insulate them from the cold.
