Ancestor:Descendants:

The qupe tree split from its ancestor, the polar quilbil. They have doubled in size and thrive in rainy eastern Darwin. Their rubbery leaves have gotten wider and more numerous to take advantage of the warmer climate and increased sunlight. Their strong trunk helps them grow higher than before. Their berries are now fruit sized and are a peachy-pink color to attract fruigivores. They take about a year to mature and will fruit every 3 months. While they can survive in sandy soil of the beach, they grow best in the muddy soil of the temperate rainforest.
