Ancestor:Descendants:

Splitting from its ancestor, red salt moss does not float on the surface, rather living throughout the water, and has thus altered its pigmentation to absorb more blue and green light, causing it to appear red in color. Like its ancestor, it is tolerant to the salty conditions in the Ninth Salt Lake, and since it lacks much competition, it is highly successful.
