The River Foi split from their ancestor, and found their way to the surface due to competition. They first made it to the surface thru mountain springs That flooded caverns into the water table. Eventually, they were able to make their way to the headwaters for Bardic and Wright Tropical Rivers, where they flourished. Their eyes are mostly vestigial, but function has begun to return.
