Ancestor:Descendants:

Splitting from its ancestor, the Rootcap venosa has evolved an appearance reminiscent of the supershrooms. With the majority of its body consisting of a large, hardy root, this member of the venosa family performs photosynthesis with its fungi-like cap. This broad structure evolved to give it as wide a surface as possible in order to take in sunlight, and at the same time allow it to have an edge over smaller flora whose growth would be limited in the shade it produced. With the only competition being the even taller flatleaf stalk, the rootcap venosa has done well for itself and established its place on Spark's Island.

Spores are produced by the cap, and waft off into the wind where they will eventually settle down and hopefully mature.
