The saltshroom replaced its ancestor, the turretshroom on the beaches of Huggs island. They were so successful that they caused Islandshroom and Shruem to become extinct on the beach as well. The reason for this is it thrives in salty environments, thus pushing the other "shrooms" to the interior of the island. Any excess salt is expelled out the top of the cap, which makes it unappetizing to pakahes.
