The sandy orbibom split from its ancestor. When some tundra orbibom seeds landed near the Dixon Desert, most of them died. However, the ones that did not were able to adapt to their new environment. The sandy orbibom adapted to its dry surroundings by shrinking in size, evolving sharper thorns, and evolving waxy leaves that help store more water within itself. Not only did the sandy orbibom adapt to the Dixon Desert, but it has also spread out into the Dixon High Desert and the Dixon Rocky. Otherwise, it is quite similar to its ancestor.
