The segmented bog pyamus split from its ancestor, the chitin shell is thinner since it no longer has to fight against water pressure and the red flesh is soft and flexible. Its segments are completely separate which allows it to wave and bend in moving water rather than possibly take damage. The shape of the organism is less pyramid-like due to not having to hold up against water pressure. The cells that produce the chitin shell proto spores are released a day before the cells that produce the fungisoid proto spores.
