Ancestor:Descendants:

Splitting from its ancestor, the serak has evolved a purely herbivorous life-style, feasting on the plentiful gildea. While its taller cousin, the hextower, feeds on the the proto-leaves, the serak goes for the proto-roots. In order to get through its "shell", it secretes sulfonic acid from a pair of glands within the base of its throat, and this allows it to bore through so that it can reach the tender nutritious innards. It lays several eggs protected by a jelly that hides their scent. They only live a few months and grow rapidly, just like their close cousins the hexpudgers.
