The shurikrustum split from the chitjorns. Due to the "plague" of the frabukgraze, the larger sections of its exoskeleton have become sharp edges to deter or harm herbivores. The concentrated photosynthetic patches have become a larger single column in between the sharp edges. Like other chitjorns, individuals live for a year. At the end of its life it initiates 6 asexual buds from the bottom of the "photo-columns", which push away from the parent as they grow.
