The southern strainerbeak split from its ancestor, migrating into the southern seas of Sagan 4, and filling the niche of a medium-sized filter feeder. It has become thicker bodied to insulate itself in the colder waters, and its coloration includes black to both blend into the floating black flora as well as provide countershading. Other than this, it is the same as its ancestor.
