The speckled pumpgill split from its ancestor and moved to Raq Temperate Bay. Finding hosts of double bubblgae it monopolized on this new food source, in the process doubling in size. It has changed little from its ancestor, except that it now has a pattern of green speckles on its under belly. These mimic the colors of the broadleaf calmstrum, which it has also expanded its diet to include.
Individuals live for about 3 years, reaching maturity in the first year. They lay eggs (~ 5 mm diameter) on the double bubblgae after mating; however they tend to mate and lay eggs during the colder months, allowing the young to hatch in an abundance of food.
