The spiked plarge split from the plurge and evolved for the plains. The spiked leaves now grow all over it, and help towards its photosynthesis. The spiked leaves half defend the plarge from herbivores (it is not impossible for a miragebok to smash one open and feast upon the tasty soft inside). Often animals will use them to rub stickyballs off, but with a large surface area of leaves and a round flat top to collect sunlight a plarge can easily absorb lots of sunlight even if stickyballs cover most of the body. Its success has been so that it has even spread back into the desert, where it is now almost perfectly suited to after surviving the plains.
