Ancestor:Descendants:

The spinebacked probeface split from its ancestor and has more than doubled in size. Ironically for something descended from a species called 'shortfaced' much of its length comes from its long beak which it uses to probe the mud along the shore line and the sand amongst the dunes for food. Although the adults are prey to the Shantak, they also eat Shantak eggs.
