The spitting lizalagarto split from its ancestor, the lizalagarto. They have developed acidic projectile spit that can melt the bark of crystal flora. Once the bark is weakened they can break into the crystal flora and eat the red fungi-like insides. Their cheeks store the spit until they need to use it. They also are immune to the tetrodotoxin in Forest Venomeralds. Their spit helps break down the toxin and then their digestive system further breaks it down. Their acidic spit also helps protect them from predators. They are bright orange in color to warm of their acidic spit. Like their ancestor they lay soft-shell eggs under the soil. They eggs resemble turtle eggs. They still communicate using their dewlap and can change color and show general needs and emotions.
