The Squiking Nectarling replaced it's ancestor in the Huggs-Yokto Savanna at the same time that the Pouched Nectarling replaced it in the Yokto Temperate Forest. Just like their ancestors, they dig with their snouts to eat the Sugar-Trunked Balloonarch's nectar, but unlike them they do not live in groups, but rather couple together in monogamous families. They live in lairs and while the female cares for the young, the male cares for food. The male is bigger (8 cm long) than the female (up to 6 cm) and is coloured entirely pink to signal it's sexual maturity.
