Ancestor:Descendants:

The stationary foilid has developed a new way of living. It has given up filter feeding and now lives solely on its host, the curled reefballs. They push one of the plant's leaves off, and attach to the plant in its place. They then feed directly on the nutrients that were originally supposed to be for the leave. They have developed smaller eyes and a shorter body, to aid in camouflage. They have retained the ability to swim, in case the plant dies, and after fragmentation to find a new host. Sometimes a plant has too many stationary foilids attached to its body, and the plant dies of starvation. The stationary foilid still has problems, like its ancestor, with reefball gilltails, who occasionally mistake them for the curled reefball's leaves, and try to eat them.
