The sulfidamoeba split from its ancestor and moved to the Otter Vents, where it feeds on the sulfur-bearing minerals, or sulfides, emitted by the hydrothermal vents. It is slightly less amorphous than its ancestor and has become roughly triangular in shape, but it still uses pseudopod-like projections to gather up nutrients. They live mostly on or near the outsides of the cylindrical chimney structures surrounding many of the vents, though they can also be found on the ocean floor.
