Ancestor:Descendants:

The symbiocells genus group split from the flashcells genus group and specialized for symbiotic relationships with deep-sea fauna. With photosynthetic proteins useless, more bioluminescent proteins are created, making this the brightest of its genus. The sugars its ancestors once got from photosynthesis are now provided by the fauna that they live on/inside. When given enough food, many of the cells in a colony naturally glow but they glow several times brighter when an increase of pressure is sensed, so fauna tend to have specialized muscles to activate this.
