As the populations of gilltails in Krakow polar coast began to dwindle, the clinging belumbia needed to find better ways to survive. One such method that came about was a return to an ancestral niche. The Urmelia has become reminiscent of the long extinct Urchips and Urstars, filter-feeding plankton out of the water. They no longer lay their eggs on organisms, instead laying them onto rocks along the seabed. They are slow moving, crawling along the sand.
