The xeno raftball split from its ancestor and now is always at the surface. Due to their larger size they grow slower to save minerals. Most of their nutrition comes from the water or is leached off other flora. They stick to just about any smooth surface including each other, however these bonds are easy to break. In many places they cover the surface of the water completely.
