Splitting from its ancestral genus group, the armored swarmer has gained two cellulose plates on its body. These are used as a defense against predators, making them harder to kill. Some parts of their body don't have plates on them, allowing them to photosynthesize. They are mainly filter-feeders, feeding on detritus and smaller microscopic organisms that are caught in its mouth.
