The barnitut has split from its ancestor. In times when there was less food to find on the ground, the arrival of the barniballs was great for some plentutri. They noticed the purple color and knew it had to be food, so they started eating them from the bellies of flying plents. These plents let them do this because it was an easy way to get rid of the barniballs. The barnitut has a beak that's specialized in eating the barniballs and their wings have gotten a bit bigger so they can keep up with the larger plents.
